Documented or Undocumented they are our Neighbors
- Your Honor speaks. In Maryland, we do not treat people as disposable. We do not threaten families with deportation as if they were case numbers.
- Highest grant rate. Judge David M. Jones has let more asylum seekers stay than most of his peers nationwide. That record matters. It shows compassion in a system designed for cruelty.
- But the warnings sting. In Hyattsville, immigrants hear the threat: miss a hearing, face removal. The law allows it. ICE demands it. Yet the tone matters. The way justice is spoken matters.
- Maryland values. This is not how we treat people here. Not in Prince George’s County. Not in Baltimore. Not anywhere in this state.
- Christmas season reminder. At Christmas, and all year round, we recognize that there is no Black, no White, no Hispanic in Maryland. There are only neighbors. There are only families. There are only people who deserve dignity.
- Mild scolding. Your Honor, remember: justice is not intimidation. Justice is not fear. Justice is fairness spoken with respect. Maryland expects better.
