That’s not true! Chanel ran independent of any slate, with her campaign team consisting of her family - a large network of East Baltimore legends. It wasn’t until the last two days of Early Voting when Senator McCray realized his support for Delegate Smith wasn’t going to do it, and Chanel was clearly winning one of those seats, that he began to help her handing out campaign literature and then designed a McCray-led team ticket the weekend before Election Day that included Chanel instead of Stephanie to make it appear Chanel won because of his support. You can ask Chanel or her father Talmadge - who was certainly as powerful a politician as this article portrays - and they’ll tell the truth! I’m sure Delegate Smith would also shine the light on what really happened!
