As the hearings on redistricting Maryland continue tempers are getting short. Here’s the latest report of what I’m hearing about the BATTLE OF THE MAP.
🟥 The Other Enemies of the Governor (Opposing His Map)
- Benjamin F. Kramer – Montgomery County (District 19)
- Cheryl C. Kagan – Montgomery County (District 17) This one is sensitive because Kagan was an early supporter of Wes in the gubernatorial primary and there are those in the governor’s camp who are calling her a traitor.
- Malcolm L. Augustine – Prince George’s County (District 47)
- Pamela G. Beidle – Anne Arundel County (District 32)
- Nancy J. King – Montgomery County (District 39) This one is was not a surprise because she came up in the Mike Miller machine where senators owed their loyalty to the Senate President first and foremost, not to any Governor.
- Karen Lewis Young – Frederick County (District 3)
- William C. Smith, Jr. – Montgomery County (District 20) One source close to the governor said that Will Smith is going to be loyal to Ferguson because even though Waldstreicher Was better equipped to share judicial proceedings when Bobby Zirkin stepped down Ferguson gave it to Smith
- Katie Fry Hester – Howard/Montgomery Counties (District 9)
- Joanne C. Benson – Prince George’s County (District 24)
- Brian J. Feldman – Montgomery County (District 15)
- Jeffrey D. Waldstreicher – Montgomery County (District 18, Vice Chair Judicial Proceedings)

Wes’s team is weighing and measuring the chance to eliminate the Governor’s Enemies.
- Rocio Treminio‑Lopez – Mayor of Brentwood, MD; potential challenger to Malcolm Augustine. She is runningg for delegate but they feel she would swittch to Senate if the Governor offers to back her.
- Mike Rogers – Delegate, possible challenger to Pam Beidle.
- Jheanelle Wilkins – Delegate, possible challenger to William C. Smith, Jr.
- Karen Simpson – Delegate, possible challenger to Karen Lewis Young.
One interesting tidbit was that my sources on this were absolutely certain that Senator Dalya Attar is going to be reelected and is not going to serve any jail time and that the whole thing will disappear quietly. They say the fix is in. There’s no way that anybody wants to send her to jail. Don’t be surprised if she is exonerated and her brother gets a suspended sentence.
