The Maryland Wire Isn’t Going Anywhere. It’s Getting a New Sister Publication.
Over the past year, many of you have made The Maryland Wire one of Maryland’s fastest-growing political publications. I appreciate every one of you who has subscribed, shared articles, debated the issues, and helped build this community.
The Maryland Wire will continue exactly as it has. We’ll keep covering Maryland politics, campaigns, elections, and the people who shape our state every day.
But I’ve also decided to launch something new.
It’s called 28PW - 2028 Primary Watch.
Every presidential election has an “invisible primary.” Long before most Americans are paying attention, candidates are quietly traveling to New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Iowa, and other early states. They’re speaking at county dinners, pancake breakfasts, steak fries, party picnics, Lincoln Day dinners, fish fries, and countless local political events that rarely make national headlines.
Those trips matter.
They’re where future presidents introduce themselves to activists, recruit volunteers, test messages, raise money, and build the organizations that eventually carry them to the White House.
By the time cable news starts talking seriously about the presidential race, much of the groundwork has already been laid.
That’s the campaign I want to cover.

I’ll occasionally mention major developments here on The Maryland Wire, especially when they affect Maryland politics. But 28PW will be the place for readers who enjoy watching presidential politics from the very beginning instead of waiting until Election Day is around the corner.
