But let’s set the record straight: the most logical, ready-made, cost-efficient site for the FBI is right here, inside the Beltway, in Prince George’s County.

This isn’t about state pride or political chest-thumping. It’s about practicality, justice, and honoring promises.

The site in Greenbelt doesn’t require bulldozing historic buildings, displacing businesses, or rerouting traffic patterns. You could drop the FBI complex in tomorrow and it would fit like a glove. It’s shovel-ready. Metro-adjacent. Quietly connected to MARC and Amtrak. It’s the kind of location that looks like it was designed for a mission-oriented fortress—and unlike the Ronald Reagan Building, it doesn’t share space with tourists sipping lattes or hosting corporate luncheons.

Let’s talk security. The Greenbelt parcel offers the isolation and build-to-spec potential the FBI needs in today’s threat landscape. It’s a clean slate—untethered by outdated architecture or crowded corridors. While some would shoehorn the Bureau into downtown DC like a tenant renting a unit in a strip mall, Prince George’s can offer something the city no longer can: room to breathe, space to secure, and ground to grow.

Now layer in the equity argument. Prince George’s County hosts a fifth of the region’s federal workforce but barely scrapes together 4 percent of federal jobs. The FBI has long needed a home that reflects the demographic reality of the DMV, and a move to Maryland would signal a shift toward balancing decades of uneven investment. The residents of Prince George’s aren’t asking for a handout—they’re asking for follow-through.

In an age of political recalibration and buzzword reform, here's an agency with no shortage of budget, backbone, or bandwidth. The only thing missing? A headquarters that makes sense.
