The two-day Prince George’s County Council Retreat, titled "Prototype for What is Possible," held on January 15–16, 2026, was a strategic planning session to establish legislative priorities and the 2026 fiscal roadmap.

That was a full week before the snow storm. Trust me, I'm not taking up for their lack of leadership, just trying to make sure proper information is out there.
I hate that we can’t see what’s right in front of us. This still doesn’t make it right. The county and the state are facing major budget issues, and our schools are suffering. They could have used one of their government-owned buildings to hold this “retreat.” The problem remains: mismanagement of funds.
I used to work for the county, and I witnessed firsthand how these so-called “leaders” rent expensive hotel rooms just to use conference space.
We have over 200 schools and numerous government buildings. How do you think these people meet every day?
I'm not taking up for them in any way. In fact they owe me a lot of money at the moment, but... I also wanna make sure that facts are presented as we don't need to make stuff up for them to look bad. They do a fine job on their own.
The retreat was even open to the public. I support critique and accountability of leadership but this is a hit piece conflating two different events to make them look worse than they are. Thank you for injecting a bit of clarity.
That's a valid question but the writer of this piece still pushed a narrative of "the county leaders partied in a $5k suite" -- the actual news reported that they spent 3 days in $150/night hotel rooms and a $300/day conference room plus $18k for the monitoring system.
The conference can be scrutinized as well but it's a moving target to dismiss the misinformation and still fire at the county. It's like your parents giving you a whipping for something you didn't do and saying "well I'm sure you did something to earn it."
I'm not surprised, If they're from P.G.County. Most leaders have no soul. They have no conscience. If they're from P.G, 7 out of 10 are ghetto, that's just my ghetto opinion. The article says it all. A bunch of educated dummies.
So here is the innocent video these people are referring to!!! No evidence of this all night party but a press conference ended in short staff song and silliness. Now, maybe that was not appropriate but it’s not an all night $5,000 party and no evidence they were meeting in a private hotel room!
Someone just call the County Executive and ask and let’s not be apart of here sayers.. I’m glad I asked and searched for evidence before I called her office and maybe falsely accused them
What’s really sad is that WE were all “stuck,” in our homes, this past week - with no trash pickup or plowed roads, and at the mercy of this inept, ineffective and inefficient “leadership. There is a general consensus of “NO CONFIDENCE!” in the county’s direction, administration and leadership! WE are our own worst enemy, when we are unable to call a spade a spade! These people are horrible but the residents are complicit because they won’t DEMAND MORE & BETTER‼️
