New Polling Startup Seeks Foothold in Prince George’s County Politics
A newly formed polling outfit, Chesapeake Bay Public Opinion Research, is attempting to establish itself in Maryland’s political landscape with the release of its first public survey focused on Prince George’s County.

In a recent conversation, founder Jamie described the launch as a “trial run” designed to test both methodology and public interest. The firm is circulating a countywide issues survey across several community forums, with a target of 300 completed responses within the next week.
Jamie said the company intends to operate with an emphasis on transparency and anonymity, noting that all data will be published in full once the initial survey closes. “The goal is to be independently credible,” he said, adding that the firm will release its methodology and results publicly.
The company plans to offer customizable polling for campaigns and organizations, allowing clients to add specific questions if they fund the survey. Jamie framed this as a way to give candidates actionable data while maintaining independence in how results are collected and reported.
During the discussion, Jamie was asked about a separate poll released earlier this month in the congressional race that showed former county executive Rushern Baker leading the field. He suggested that any firm conducting such polling should update its numbers to reflect recent developments — or consider commissioning Chesapeake Bay Public Opinion Research to conduct a fresh survey.
Jamie also commented on the Register of Wills race, saying independent polling is especially important in crowded contests where candidates need credible information about voter sentiment.
