EXECUTIVE TRANSITION: Mike Ashe Steps In as Chief of Staff as LaTara Harris Takes Helm at Employ Prince George’s
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy’s administration has finalized a key administrative shift at the top of the executive team. Mike Ashe, who previously served as Director of Executive Operations, has elevated to Chief of Staff, filling the role vacated by LaTara Harris following her appointment to lead the county’s workforce development arm.
LaTara Harris Transitions to Lead Employ Prince George’s
LaTara Harris, a veteran executive with over 25 years in corporate and non-profit strategy (including leadership roles at AT&T and Crittenton Services of Greater Washington), was originally tapped as Braveboy’s Chief of Staff in July 2025.
In June 2026, County Executive Braveboy announced that Harris was selected as the President & CEO of Employ Prince George’s, Inc. (EPG) and Executive Director of the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board.
Harris officially assumed the chief executive seat at EPG on July 1, 2026, filling the vacancy created when former CEO Walter L. Simmons departed for the Wes Moore administration and succeeding interim CEO Jeffrey Swilley.
Mike Ashe Assumes Chief of Staff Role
With Harris transitioning to manage county workforce expansion and job placement initiatives at EPG, Mike Ashe stepped into the Chief of Staff seat.
Previous Position: Director of Executive Operations within the Office of the County Executive.
Current Role: Serving as top administrative strategist and Chief of Staff to County Executive Aisha Braveboy.
As Director of Executive Operations, Ashe managed day-to-day internal administrative functions, operational workflows, and execution across executive departments. His promotion provides operational continuity at the senior staff level inside the administration.
