But over time, Catonsville’s boisterous crowds and civic pride have rivaled Towson’s draw, making it a can't-miss for politicians seeking crossover appeal. Arbutus offers a strong union presence and working-class resonance, while Dundalk — the largest city in Baltimore County and a vital Eastern stronghold — carries unmatched weight for candidates courting a populist or blue-collar base.
Against this backdrop, Councilman Julian Jones Jr., ick Stewart, and Councilman Izzy Patoka made the full rounds, attending all four major parades on July 4th. Their visibility across geographically and demographically diverse pockets of the county signals not just enthusiasm but strategic foresight. From suburban neighborhoods to historically industrial communities, these events offer more than photo ops, they provide opportunities to reaffirm commitment to local issues and connect with multigenerational constituencies.
Though technically a fifth event, Kingsville’s July 5th parade remains a more modest affair — a two-block route with minimal turnout and little Democratic participation. Councilman David Marks was spotted waving to residents, maintaining his traditional presence in the district. While Kingsville’s parade may not shift the dial for countywide races, it remains a touchpoint for Republican visibility and neighborhood-level engagement.
