The Document Leigha Messick Claims “Proves” Adrian Boafo Is Corrupt — Actually Proves Something Else Entirely

There’s a rule in politics older than the State House dome:
If you’re going to accuse someone of corruption, you’d better bring evidence that survives the first read.
This week, candidate Leigha Messick circulated what she described as “proof” that Adrian Boafo — former Bowie councilmember, former deputy chief of staff, and current congressional candidate — was “evil,” “compromised,” and “tied to corporate influence.”
Her proof?
A federal lobbying disclosure filed by Oracle Corporation.
A document she clearly did not read.
A document that does not say what she claims it says.
A document that, if anything, raises questions about her competence, not Adrian’s integrity.
THE CLAIM
Messick publicly asserted that the Oracle filing shows Adrian was involved in lobbying for:
- Defense appropriations
- AI regulation
- Cloud security
- Data centers
- Federal procurement
- And a laundry list of federal issues
She presented the document as if it were a smoking gun.
It isn’t.
It’s not even warm.
WHAT THE DOCUMENT ACTUALLY IS
The filing is a routine corporate lobbying disclosure — the kind every major company submits quarterly. It lists:
- The issues Oracle lobbied on
- The bills they monitored
- The agencies they contacted
- The Oracle employees associated with the filing
That’s it.
This is standard compliance paperwork.
It is not an indictment.
It is not a scandal.
It is not evidence of wrongdoing.
WHAT THE DOCUMENT ACTUALLY SAYS
Here is the only relevant line involving Adrian Boafo, repeated across sections:

WHAT THE DOCUMENT DOES NOT SAY
It does not say:
- That Adrian lobbied Congress
- That he supported or opposed any bill
- That he influenced defense spending
- That he worked on AI regulation
- That he was responsible for Oracle’s policy agenda
- That he engaged in unethical behavior
- That he did anything improper
It doesn’t even say he ever met with a single federal official.
The document is a roster — nothing more.
THE REAL STORY: A CANDIDATE WHO DIDN’T READ HER OWN EVIDENCE
The most revealing part of this episode isn’t the document.
It’s the fact that Messick:
- Did not read it
- Did not understand it
- Did not verify her claim
- Did not check what the filing actually shows
- Did not recognize that this is routine corporate paperwork
Instead, she took a dense, fine‑print, bureaucratic form and assumed that no one else would read it either.
She gambled on the public’s exhaustion.
She gambled wrong.
WHY THIS MATTERS
This isn’t about ideology.
This isn’t about left vs. center.
This isn’t about policy disagreements.
This is about basic competence.
If a candidate is going to accuse someone of corruption, they must:
- Understand the evidence
- Accurately represent the evidence
- Demonstrate they can read a federal filing
- Show they can distinguish fact from assumption
Messick failed all four.
And she failed publicly.
THE WARNING TO OTHER CAMPAIGNS
If this is the level of “opposition research” being circulated, let this serve as a notice:
If you come after Adrian Boafo, you had better come with facts you can prove.
Not screenshots.
Not misread documents.
Not conspiracy‑shaped shadows.
Not filings you didn’t bother to understand.
Facts.
Because the moment those documents hit daylight, they will be read — line by line — and the truth will come out.
And the truth here is simple:
This document does not prove what Messick claims.
It proves she didn’t know what she was talking about.

Maryland politics has enough noise.
It doesn’t need candidates manufacturing scandals out of routine paperwork.
If this is the standard of evidence being used to smear opponents, voters deserve to know.
And now they do.

That’s why I’m doing this article. I’m not trying to put her down and I’m not trying to make her look stupid. She’s a candidate for US Congress who doesn’t know her a** from a hole in the ground appears to be spreading lies that someone else has given her.
