A Mayor Rooted in Law, Hardware, and Community
When Annapolis voters chose Jared Littmann as their next mayor, they weren’t just electing a politician — they were elevating a neighbor, a problem-solver, and a small business owner who has spent decades listening to people and helping them fix things, both literally and figuratively.
Littmann’s journey began in Wayne, New Jersey, where he grew up in a family that valued education and service. After earning a degree in Engineering and Public Policy from Washington University in St. Louis and a law degree from the University of Maryland, he built a career as an environmental lawyer in Montgomery County, working on electricity regulation, civil prosecutions, and legislation.
From Courtroom to Hardware Aisles
In 2004, Littmann made a surprising pivot: he joined his in-laws’ hardware store in Annapolis. By 2007, he and his wife Marlene had purchased K&B True Value Hardware, now K&B Ace Hardware, transforming it into a solar-powered, environmentally conscious community hub. For Littmann, the store became more than a business — it was a place where neighbors came together, where problems were solved, and where sustainability could be practiced daily.
His leadership extended beyond the storefront. Littmann served on the Board of Directors of the True Value Company, eventually becoming Board Chair, guiding thousands of independent retailers nationwide.
Civic Service and Consensus Building
Annapolis residents first saw Littmann in public office as Ward 5 Alderman (2013–2017), where he sponsored legislation on city finances and sustainability. He later served on the Resilience Authority of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, helping prepare the city for climate challenges, and on the Police Accountability Board’s Trial Board.
His campaign for mayor carried the slogan “Listen. Unite. Do.” — a reflection of his pragmatic, consensus-driven style. On November 4, 2025, voters responded, giving him a decisive victory with 73.3% of the vote.
A Family Man with Deep Roots
Littmann and Marlene have lived in Annapolis since 2010, raising their two children, Isabel and Zach. He’s coached youth soccer and baseball for more than a decade, and he often speaks about the values instilled by his Jewish heritage — service, problem-solving, and community responsibility.

As he prepares to take office on December 1, 2025, Littmann brings a rare combination of skills: the analytical mind of a lawyer, the practical know-how of a hardware store owner, and the collaborative spirit of a coach. His priorities — housing affordability, streamlined permitting, public safety, and environmental resilience — reflect both his professional background and his personal values.
