This Is Not a Mandate to Spend
The Democrats had a very good night. The House is flipping. Jon Ossoff held Georgia, Roy Cooper took North Carolina, Chris Pappas took New Hampshire. Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first Black woman ever elected governor of a state. Down in South Carolina, Annie Andrews beat Darline Graham in the stunner of the night. By now the takes have been written, and a lot of them say the same thing: the country just handed progressives a mandate.
I was texting with Len Foxwell on Tuesday night between his appearances on WJLA, Channel 7 in Washington — he was doing a great job getting his message across, and I told him so — and we agreed on one thing that I want to put on the record while the spin hardens. There is nothing in these results that says go out and spend more money. Nothing. If we assume this is a mandate for more spending, we will really damage things.
