Today, District 8 Councilmember Edward Burroughs III publicly posted that anyone still waiting for plowing or storm‑related assistance should email David Murray at Dhmurray@co.pg.md.us and include your street name and address. Burroughs explicitly directed residents to Murray as the point of contact.
Who Is David Murray, and Why Are Residents Being Sent to Him?
David Murray is a newly rehired, high‑level County Council staffer whose return to Prince George’s County government comes after a widely reported controversy involving his previous role on the Prince George’s County Board of Education.
According to the Office of Integrity and Compliance’s official investigative findings, Murray was working full‑time in Missouri while still holding his elected school board seat in Maryland, missing meetings, and continuing to receive board pay totaling $9,792.32 during the months he was absent. The OIC reported that the Board failed to act on the attendance violations for months, allowing the payments to continue. Murray resigned from the Board on July 16, 2024, after the situation became public.
Additional reporting from FOX 5 DC confirmed that Murray had been living and working near St. Louis as the Chief Academic Officer of the Ferguson‑Florissant School District since January 2024, even as he attempted to maintain his Maryland board seat.
