We have been conditioned to believe that executive titles or famous last names automatically equal effective leadership. But what have we actually seen? Experience is not inherited. Executive skill is not proven by lineage, money, or long résumés, it is proven by service, consistency, and competence.
Charnell Ferguson represents a different kind of leadership, fresh, intelligent, and fully qualified. Her experience is not theoretical, it is practical. The county needs new leadership for sure but please explain to the readers and VOTERS what - if any - executive municipal experience either of these two candidates possess that qualifies them to lead the county. Glossy, fluff pieces with no information on their EXPERIENCE and background presumes that Prince George’s county residents care more about shiny, new objects (candidates) rather than substance and a competently managed and properly functioning government.

Also, Braveboy has additional problems -- not just the snowstorm non-response. She has pressured the hiring of unqualified people, such as Samuel Moki, hired to lead part of government where he'd previously been fired. She also hired Leslie Johnson, wife of Jack Johnson.
I hadn’t heard about Samuel Moki. Did hear about bringing Leslie Johnson back and . supposedly also hired the convicted felon father of county councilman Edwards Burroughs to oversee a newly launched Strike Force 311 Fast Track campaign but has made sure his name is excluded from public salary records so it can’t be searched and verified. SMH
Yup. He was put in as acting before county council voted to bring him back permanently. I heard that current county employees -- his subordinates-- were instructed by county exec to testify on his behalf.
Thx - shameful. Reappointing him and forcing testimony on his behalf is a major abuse of public trust. The county exec and council are way too cozy for any real oversight to happen. This needs to be investigated.
I’m not sure why asking about Ms. Ferguson’s experience is being taken as negativity. This is a county executive race not a student government election. It’s a major executive leadership role so of course people are going to ask what her background is and what qualifies her to run a county. Most voters like myself are looking for information to make informed decisions. I’m not looking for hype. Things like her experience managing teams, working with millions in annual budgets, coordinating and planning public services delivery, handling legislation, and dealing with emergencies that have consequences and real impact on communities are all fair questions because those are literally parts of the job. Quite honestly questions like those I asked are an opportunity for her supporters to share her accomplishments and vision so more people can feel confident supporting her. If she’s the right person then there should be no issue explaining why with specifics. And yes I agree that executive titles and famous last names don’t automatically equal effective leadership or real work. That’s exactly why I’m asking about substance instead of just going off compliments and superficial praise. At the end of the day voters deserve to understand who they’re voting for. It’s not an attack. After the mess that Braveboy has so far made if the county in the short time she’s been in that seat, people just want accountability.
